“We are the shadows of civilization. We are the watchers in the dark. We are the flock in the night. We make our nest where we are needed.”

“SHHHH! Are you trying to stir up trouble? There are some things that you don’t talk about out in the open! The Night Market doesn’t exist. I don’t know who told you different, but they were just pullin some kind of prank. Now you just forget you ever heard that name and go on about your day. Nothing good ever came from stickin your nose where it doesn’t belong. Never met anyone claiming to be a member of some gang of thieves. At least no one that had half a brain in their head.”
Rumors and whispers talk of an organization shrouded in mystery. No one is quite sure of who or how many members there are, but don’t let anyone tell you they are just a myth. They exist, and they will find you if you know how to contact them. They speak in gibberish and code to make sure they only reveal themselves to the right people. But few know more than what exists in hearsay and the tales of braggarts. Do you want the truth? Do you want to know what’s really out there? Do you want to know what really happens in the dark? Then step into the night, but don’t complain if it’s less welcoming than you thought. You wouldn’t be the first person to wander into darkness and never come back. Those that claim to have dealings with the organization have said that it spans far and wide. Reaching throughout Arthos and Sothos and claiming the ears of those in high places.
Little is known of what actions, if any, this organization is supposed to have taken. Their members deny their own existence, let alone anything as concrete as specific missions. There are always rumors however. There are stories of a particularly gifted rogue scouting out the camps of the Jade Jackals when they were at war with Dark Harbor. Information seems to find those in the best place to use it whenever there is an imminent threat. When the island was being overrun by Chirping Serpents there were rumors of their eggs being sold, but only to those well outside of Dark Harbor. When the Empire came and negotiated their terms with the island, it is said that someone was whispering in the ear of Admiral Harris to negotiate better terms. When the Gods were severed from the land there were those who completed the trial of Ryiak and added his strength to the Bastion. When the Emperor sent word and the armies were rallied against the fallen cleric Rodrick Hale, there were rumors of spies being snuffed out and people of power in his forces disappearing. Even when the Gnolls came and began to raid our lands there were tales of survivors coming into Dark Harbor that spoke of masked figures that struck down the gnolls chasing them and disappeared back into the night. These are all just rumors of course. Who knows if any of it is actually true. Either way, best to keep your head down and your nose clean. No need to stir up trouble.
